9/15/09 - Butte County submits the sixth annual report as required under NPDES Phase II guidelines

5/5/09 - Butte County's Storm Water Management Program sends out t-shirts and water drop stress balls to the contestants that participated in the County Voice newsletter storm water contest.

7/1/08 - Butte County's first five year NPDES Municipal permit term is completed.

3/11/08 – Butte County adopts Stormwater Management and Discharge Control Ordinance as Chapter 50 of the Butte County Code. http://municipalcodes.lexisnexis.com/codes/butteco/
As part of the Butte County Storm Water Management Program and in compliance with the Clean Water Act and the Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act, this ordinance applies to Butte County’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System Phase II permit area, which consists of the unincorporated urbanized area surrounding the City of Chico. Click here to see map.  Ordinance prohibits non-stormwater discharges into the County storm drain system, requires source controls and best management practices for development projects within the permit area, protects watercourses, and authorizes sampling and inspection authority to the County for stormwater violation investigations. 

11/05/07 – Second Storm Water Public Opinion Survey mailed to residents within the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit Area. Randomly selected residents within the Butte County Storm Water Management Program's permit area (Chico Urbanized Area) were mailed a survey asking questions relating to water pollution and storm water management issues. This second survey will be compared to the first survey completed in August 2005 to determine the effectiveness of the County’s Storm Water Management Program’s public education efforts in regards to issues of water pollution and storm water management. The survey results will be posted to this website. If you would like to participate in the survey, please send an e-mail to stormwater@buttecounty.net and provide your name and address and write second stormwater opinion survey in the subject line.

10/15/07 - The County Voice newsletter article reminds everyone to reduce storm water pollution by following simple best management practices allowing only stormwater to flow into gutters and storm drains.

9/15/07 – Report filed – Butte County filed its fourth annual report as required under NPDES Phase II guidelines

7/01/07 – The County Voice newsletter article announces results of the Storm Water Puzzle Contest. The winning answer was HELP. Contest drawing winners received a storm water shaped stress ball embossed with the image of the County’s storm drain markers that read “NO DUMPING / DRAINS TO CREEK”.

4/17/2007 - Butte County employees and readers of the County Newsletter, The County Voice, have an opportunity to enter a drawing for some Storm Water related promotional items by correctly answering a Storm Water related puzzle question.  Contest ends on May 7, 2007. Download puzzle here.

4/11/07 - Butte County employee's and readers of the County newsletter, The Voice, will have the opportunity to be entered into a drawing for some Storm Water Related promotional items.  The April edition of The Voice will have a Storm Water themed word puzzle and participants are asked to e-mail the correct answer to the County's Storm Water Management Coordinator.  For those that correctly answer the contest question they will be entered into a drawing for several storm water award prizes.  This contest is part of Butte County's NPDES Phase II Municipal Permit Program's employee education measure to promote storm water pollution reduction activities.

09/15/06 - Report Filed: Butte County filed its third annual report as required under NPDES Phase II guidelines.

5/18/06 - In cooperation with the Butte County Association of Governments a stormwater pollution reduction message poster was placed in all County buses to help promote the public's awareness of activities that will reduce stormwater pollution.

10/11/05 - Facility and Construction Site Planning and Management for Compliance with Phase II NPDES Requirements October 2005 Workshop The workshop for NPDES compliance was held on Wednesday October 26th in the Chico City Council Chambers. .

08/15/05 - Storm Water Public Opinion Survey Results The results of the Public Opinion Survey are now available for viewing. .

07/06/05 - Storm Water Public Opinion Survey mailed to county residents within the Chico Urban area that live within the NPDES Phase II Stormwater Permit Area. Randomly selected residents within the Butte County Storm Water Management Program's permit area (Chico Urban Area) were mailed a survey asking questions relating to water pollution and storm water management issues. The survey will help determine the current level of public knowledge in regards to issues of water pollution and storm water management. The survey results will be posted to this website later in the year. If you would like to participate in the survey, please send an e-mail to stormwater@buttecounty.net and provide your name and address and write stormwater opinion survey in the subject line.

3/8/05 & 3/9/05 - Butte County conducted it first NPDES Requirements workshop for the public.

10/27/04 - Butte County filed its first annual report as required under NPDES guidelines.

02/05/04 - The Regional Water Quality Control Board has informed Butte County that effective January 7, 2004, discharges from the Butte County Urbanized Area Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System are authorized by the GeneraAugust 21, 2008orm Water Management Program has been accepted by the Regional Water Quality Control Board as complete. A copy of the Program will be posted on the State Water Resources Control Board's website for 60 days. The Regional Water Quality Control Board will most likely issue the County a Municipal Storm Water Permit sometime in early 2004.
